What a lovely plot this cottage is set upon

Lovely comfy cottage in such an amazing location, with walks in the nature reserve from the doorstep. So peaceful sitting in the garden looking at the hills. Our dog loved the enclosed garden.

This is a great property for walking. The Stiperstones Nature Reserve is about 200 yards away. Secure rear patio for dogs and the front garden is secure if you keep an eye on them. Nice local pub in walking distance with good food, and interesting places within easy reach.

This is the second time we have stayed at The Wilderness, last time in September. We loved the fact the property is out of the way and at the end of a gravel track. The only passing traffic being walkers. We came back here again as the property has a secure rear garden, ideal for our two miniature schnauzers who love running around in the garden. There is a hot tub, but this is wood fired. We stayed in March, when the nights were still cool but nice during the day. It takes awhile to heat up to temperature, and unfortunately it didn't get up to sufficient temperature despite using 3 bags of wood 15 for us to use. If it's cold don't bother. The owners replaced a toaster when we advised it didn't work within 24 hours, and had replaced the washing machine before we arrived as this had stopped working too. I think this place is reasonably priced, and great if you want to get away from it all. I would come back again, but we've been here twice now, so need to find other places now.

The cottage was cosy, and the beds were very comfortable. However, the cottage was tired and not very clean, skirtingboards were dirty, doors were dirty. There was an issue with the log burner in the cavity between the plasterboard and the void going up to the chimney, that we could not use the log burner on the last night, we were only at the cottage for 3 nights. . The Hot Tub was not put on for our arrival and the Owner knew we wanted to use it, so rather thoughtless of her, and as it take 4 5 hours to warm, so we did not use it at all. Finally, the front and back door were UPVC doors, so when locked you may want to take the keys out, but there was no thumb locks in the doors in case of a fire. This I thought was dangerous.

An absolutely beautiful stunning cottage everything we could have wished for, extremely well equipped, The cottage was so cozy in the evenings with the log fire crackling away, a good sized tv offering all the channels and films and super snug beds, The walks were fabulous and we where lucky with the weather, The trees where aglow with Autumn hues, The lovely garden was enjoyed by our fur babies and we where thrilled watching the wildlife from the windows Desperate to return at some point Thankyou for the opportunity to stay . A wonderful chocolate box cottage that I would recommend to everyone. Beautiful location.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The cottage is nestled in the Stiperstones Hills with a wonderful view and great access to a number of walks providing panoramic views. It is full of charm both inside and out, with space out the front for our 3 year old granddaughter to play safely on the enclosed lawn. The hot tub was great, using wood fire burner which took around 2 hours to heat up for use. The location is beautiful and Ludlow and Shrewsbury within a half hour drive either direction Ludlow Castle and Shrewsbury Prison were particular highlights of our visits. The host was great and left a number of lovely little touches which really enhanced out stay. Would highly recommend without hesitation!

This is a lovely cosy cottage in an idyllic situation, perfect for enjoying walks as you can just walk out of the cottage onto the Stiperstones. It is peaceful as it is located in a rural setting and you can sit out on sunny evenings enjoying the countryside. At the same time you can walk to the pub and there is a shop too. There is everything you need in the kitchen. We also found we could have days out to a range of destinations such as Church Stretton, Stokesay, Ludlow and Powys Castle easily. There are two bedrooms. We were two couples and the second bedroom is rather small for grown ups, but I did realise that before I booked, The beds are very comfortable and we all slept well.

A beautiful and peaceful retreat and a perfect spot to enjoy and explore the Shropshire hills.

The pictures are old on the Web. The bushes need trimming back out side above the picnic table. The conifer is twice the size now! The cottage is very dark. Another reading light would be useful. Also there is a lack of storage. Another wardrobe upstairs next to the fireplace would suffice and not encroach on the generous bedroom. The twin bedroom doesn't really work. The provision of hooks and a shelf isn't enough for 2 sharing, and is very cramped. However the cottage is beautiful and really clean and well equipped. A beautiful place to stay. I loved every minute there.

A warm very well equipped comfortable cottage in stunning surroundings with amazing hill walks from the doorstep. The enclosed garden is private and ideal if you have a dog. The half mile drive to the cottage is narrow and uneven. The local pub is welcoming and provides good reasonably priced food.The wood fired hot tub was a bonus but difficult to light in periods of wet weather. Takes several hours to heat the water. A thoroughly relaxed and enjoyable stay.

Lovely cottage located in a gorgeous location . Lots of interesting features on this property plenty of parking , fabulous view and the hot tub area which are all very secluded . A few small things which could have been improved upon but overall very comfortable . A little compact for 4 people with one large bedroom on the 1st floor and one twin bedroom on the ground floor.

Very cosy clean cottage ,lovely hot tub and log fire, not forgetting the relaxing spa bath it had everything even Netflix so u could have a cosy night in front of the fire watching a great movie enjoying a beer,heaven .Lovely walks straight from your door,lovely pub and shop just down the road ,really friendly people.Our 2 dogs had a fantastic time,they were very fascinated with the farm animals that were grazing in the field right next to our garden, cows sheep rabbits,fantastic.We had lovely walks and was very lucky with the weather,would definitely return and recommend .The cottage had everything you needed and a delicious cake was waiting for us on our arrival,thank you so much for that,really kind, looking forward to returning.

Very comfortable, warm & clean holiday home with a fully equipped kitchen whether just to cook an English breakfast or make a pot of coffee. Would be helpful to have some sturdy hooks for a family outdoor coats and a place for wellies by the door but superb otherwise . Woodburning hot tub is lovely took one bag from shop plus the starter kit, such a treat Nature reserve on the doorstep just turn right out of Cottage with the local pub and shop at the bottom of the narrow bumpy track to to Cottage,idyllic position. We enjoyed our week in this lovely area there is plenty to see and do. Our main problem with the cottage was the lack of light. This could be improved by better lighting lighter decor and cutting back some of the overgrown garden. Everything else was fine, the cottage is well equipped and comfortable. The pub in the village is great very friendly staff the dog even got a treat and the food is excellent value.

Maybe a little more information on the ruggedness of the lane up to cottage. The owners were easy to contact and helpful during our stay. The cottage is a unique place to stay in beautiful surroundings with a well stocked shop and village pub . The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could need. The wilderness is warm comfortable with lovely decor relating to the history of the miners cottage. The Swedish hot tub was fabulous and well used once up and running . Will definitely be returning.

We had a lovely weeks holiday, very quiet . Log burner and hot tub very nice touch, we used the hot tub most evenings even though it was 6c Once you got used to burning it several hours before you use it was fine. Thie wilderness cottage was warm , the local pub and shop looked after all your needs, the staff very friendly. The only minus points was you must have a powerful torch when you get out the car, it's only a short distance but you can't see a thing when your going down the steps , some lights needed here. The only other thing was no milk on arrival for a cup of tea, the carrot cake was lovely as bottle of wine would have been a nice touch. We would definitely return. John and Sarah

The most wonderful holiday at The Wilderness which is full of charm and cosy nights. The cottage is a great location for walks, and exploring Shropshire there is a pub just 5 minutes walk away and lots of villages to explore nearby. The cottage was just as the pictures show, everything you need for a little getaway and more. We will certainly be back!

Really lovely location and place to stay. We were a little worried over the reviews on the drive to the cottage. However, we had no problems and took it slow and steady up the hilllane. The local pub is lovely and so are the people. With the darker nights coming I would recommend taking one of the torches that are kindly provided for the walk back after an evening of walking or a meal in the lovely pub.
